Illinois Energy Conservation Code

The Illinois Energy Conservation Code includes the IECC 2015 plus state amendments.  This code is required statewide in Illinois.  This seminar will focus on the HVAC related aspects of the code.  Specific topics will include:

  • Overview
    • Code adoption information
    • Code structure
    • Compliance path options
  • Residential HVAC requirements, including:
    • Thermostats and controls
    • Duct sealing and insulation
    • Mechanical ventilation
    • Are ECM motors required?
  • Multi-family: Does it follow the residential or commercial code?
  • Commercial mechanical requirements, including:
    • Minimum equipment efficiencies
    • Economizer dampers, controls, and settings
    • Multi-stage equipment requirements
    • Multi-speed fan requirements
    • Fan horsepower limits
    • Energy Recovery Ventilation (ERV)
    • Boiler plant staging and control
    • VAV control requirements
    • Misc. control and specialty requirements
    • Duct sealing and leakage testing
    • Additional efficiency packages
    • Commissioning
  • Upcoming industry changes:
    • DOE 2018
    • IECC 2018
